What I Did:
I did what I uasually do, enjoy family and friends while making new ones. I also do a lot of grilling for the crowds that show up at the house since I live a short block off of the St. Charles parade route.
How I Did It:
Mardi Gras is my favorite time of the year but also one of the most stressful in that I am responsible for securing a good viewing space and that entails hauling benches and ladders to each parade. I bought a flat bed wagon to make the job easier especially since I am usually the only one willing to get out of bed very early in the morning!
Tips and Tricks
- If you are from out of town, why not try joining the locals who stay out of the French Quarter during this time of the year. Come on up St. Charles Ave. far enough to get away from the crowds and see a part of Mardi Gras that you won't see on national tv.
