NOT DURING CARNIVAL SEASON:

The streetcars are not available for private use during some of the Carnival Season. That's more than just Mardi Gras Day if you're not familiar with New Orleans Carnival Season. It's officially from January 6th through Mardi Gras. But, the blackout days for the streetcar rentals are about two weeks before Mardi Gras.

Have a Special Party on the New Orleans Streetcar:

Transportation in New Orleans is special because of the historic streetcars that are so much fun to ride on. It's a joy to ride up St. Charles Avenue on a beautiful spring day past the mansions of the Garden District and ancient oak trees. Many tourists make it a point to ride the streetcar for fun. But, did you ever think about chartering your own streetcar for your own private party?

Recently, I did exactly that for my grandson "The Flash" for his 3rd birthday. We had a ball and he's still talking about it. We had cake and ice cream, party hats and decorations, and of course gifts. But his favorite part may have been when the conductor let him drive the streetcar.

If you're interested, the RTA has regular charter streetcars and you need at least a two week advance reservation. If you want something longer or special the RTA will help you arrange those events too.

You can decorate the inside of the streetcar to fit your motif. Access to the streetcar is provided for this purpose 1/2 hour before departure time. You can bring your own food and drink, with one exception - no alcohol. Finger food works best and an ice chest for drinks. Don't forget the paper products like napkins and cups.
