Broadway is Back in New Orleans

After a four year absence due to Hurricane Katrina and the damage done to the city, the Broadway Shows normally held every year have returned.

2009-10 Season Brings Musicals

  • "Cats" is scheduled Oct. 27 - Nov. 1, 2009
  • “The Color Purple” is scheduled Dec. 1 – 6, 2009.
  • “Mamma Mia” is scheduled Feb. 2 – 7, 2010.
  • “Wicked” is scheduled March 24 – April 11, 2010.
  • “Avenue Q” June 8 – 13, 2010.

The Venue

When Broadway comes to New Orleans, the shows are performed in the beautifully renovated Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts. Located at the edge of the French Quarter in Louis Armstrong Park, at 801 N. Rampart Street. Since Hurricane Katrina, the Mahalia Jackson Theater has undergone a transformation into a state of the art facility in a beautiful setting.
