Return of the Streetcar

The Return of the Entire St. Charles Streecar Line

For the first time since Katrina wiped out our cherished streetcar line, riders can board and ride the route, to Palmer Park at Carrollton Avenue. There, you will find the Arts Market of New Orleans, where the best local artists display paintings, jewelry, decorative items, and much more. There is also live music, many children's activties, and a lot of food.

On June 28, the Arts Council, the Regional Transit Authority, and the Carrllton Area Network are planning a re-opening celebration, starting at 9:00 AM. The party begins at the Riverbend The Arts Council of New Orleans, RTA, and the Carrollton Area Network are creating a grand celebration for the return of the St. Charles Streetcar to its traditional route. On Saturday, June 28th begin at 9:00 am at Carrollton and St. Charles in the Riverbend and ride to Palmer Park, where there will be ceremonies celebrating this happy event. Later, at the Art Market, there will be puppet shows, crafts,and live music.
