New Orleans City Park has miles of stocked lagoons filled with Bass, Redfish and Catfish. The Big Bass Rodeo has catagories for all anglers including the youngsters. The lagoons are beautiful and the park enchanting.
Fishing Categories at the Bass Rodeo include: Bass by baitcasting, Bass by fly rod/reel fishing, Bass by spinning/spincast, Junior Anglers, Team Event-Rio Grande Roundup, and the Champion's Challenge.
Registration and Cost:
Registration for the Bass Rodeo is held at the Casino Building. Download your form before to save time. Entry Fees are, $10 Adults $5 Kids (12 & under). Entry fee includes one free raffle ticket for fishing tackle prizes.
Some of the Redfish are tagged for cash prises, one for $1,000. Live bait is available at the rodeo.
Not a Fisherman?:
Even if you don't fish, there's something for you at the Bass Rodeo. There are exhibits, music, a silent auction and more.
When and Where:
The City Park Big Bass Rodeo is held in March in New Orleans City Park. In 2010 it's March 27th. It starts at 5:30 a.m. The weigh-in is usually around 11.
