The New Orleans Bowl

New Orleans has hosted many bowl games over the years, and the NCAA New Orleans Bowl is the newest. Since 2001, played the conference champion of the Sun Belt and a team from Conference USA have been the participants. This year, the Troy Trojans will take on the University of Southern Mississippi in the Superdome on Sunday, December 21, at 7:00 pm.

The Game

These teams have never met on the playing field. Troy is returning to the Bowl game after having been champions in 2006. Southern Miss has won twice before. Troy will be designated as the home team. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.

Where To Stay

Troy fans can obtain special rates and stay with their team at the Marriott Hotel at 555 Canal St. Call 1-888-364-1200. Southern Miss fans can get together at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside, Two Poydras St. (504)584-3999. Other hotels are also offering special rates. To save even more, Amtrak is offer a 10% discount off the lowest available rail fare to New Orleans between December 17 and December 22. Call Amtrak at 1(800) 872-7245 and refer to Convention Fare Code X01V-950.

More Bowl Activities

The 6th Annual R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl Luncheon will be held on Friday, December 19, at noonat the Marriott. Both school bands and the teams'cheerleaders will help honor the players. Fan Fest will be held on Fulton Street next to Harrah's from 7-10pm on December 20. You can second line from your hotel to the Fulton Street Mall. The tailgate party and Battle of the Bands starts at 5:00 on Sunday on the bridge level at the Superdome.
