Port of Call Restaurant and Bar

By , About.com Guide

Port of Call Restaurant and Bar:

Port of Call is located at 838 Esplanade Avenue, on the edge of the French Quarter. Formerly a steakhouse, it is now renowned for its burgers as well. It is open daily for lunch and dinner, and is extremely casual. Reservations are not taken, and lines can be very long, but worth the wait.

Menu:

As for steaks, you can get a filet, a New York Strip, or a Ribeye with a salad and baked potato. The potatoes are fluffy and satisfying. The burgers are big, a half pound of meat that also come with a baked potato and all the fixings. No fries. The side dish of mushrooms is really tasty (I like the mushroom cheeseburger.) Pizzas and salads are also available.

The Bar:

The bar specializes in hearty tropical drinks, such as Neptune's Monsoon (a twist on a Pat O'Brien's Hurricane) and the Windjammer. You really have to look out for these, they can pack a punch. Beer is bottled and on draft, and soft drinks and juice are also available.
