Lucy's Retired Surfer's Bar & Grill

By Sharon Keating, About.com

Lucy's Retired Surfer's Bar & Grill:

How did this restaurant, opened by Californians in New York City, end up here? It's New Orleans, baby. Actually, Lucy's is pretty indescribable. It's a bar. It's a restaurant. It's the place to hang out in the Warehouse District, if you are not in the mood for something like Emeril's. Dancing on the bar is practically required, but usually only in the wee small hours.

Where:

Lucy's is at 701 Tchoupitoulas Street, at corner of Girod, right across the street from the Renaissance Arts Hotel.

The Menu:

The Southwest and California are well represented here, with everything from Rock A Mole (guacamole and chips) to edamame appetizers. There are lots of salads and varied sandwiches such as "Da Bull Grouper", burgers, and shrimp Po-Boys. Tacos abound: fish, grilled steak, chicken, you name it. Brunch is anything from eggs and bacon to West Coast Quesadillas. In case you're wondering, New Orleans' favorites red beans and rice, crawfish and spicy shrimp are also available. There is a children's menu, but I recommend you take them during the day.
