Thai Food Uptown:

Thai food lovers rejoice! Another great Thai restaurant has opened uptown. La Thai Uptown is located at 4938 Prytania, near the wonderful Upperline Restaurant. The menu is imaginative and the food delightful. We recently went for the first time, and all four of us loved our appetizers and entrees.

Appetizers:

For appetizers, we tried the L.A. Oysters, which are pecan crusted and have a tri-pepper glaze, and the coconut shrimp, which is a little sweeter dish. Some of us tried the chicken wings, which are stuffed with a ground pork mixture, and which was delicious. It is a special and not on the regular menu. If you love oysters, the pecan-crusted oysters reappear in a spinach salad with lump crabmeat. Yum! There are lots of other salads and appetizers to choose from, including some shrimp or chicken curry.

Entrees:

We had another dish not on the regular menu, a whole fried redfish, which was crispy and enormously good. Duck Delight is another favorite, and if you are with someone who is not a Thai food fan, the Filet Diana comes with lump crabmeat and a garlic-oyster reduction. The sea scallops were also excellent, as is the Ahi tuna with a sesame crust. For noodle lovers Chef Merlin prepares Paht Thai and MeeGrob Laht Na, a dish featuring chicken and shrimp with egg noodles and veggies. There are several more entrees, and vegetarian dishes are also on the menu.
