La Boca, An Argentine Steakhouse

By Sharon Keating, About.com

An Argentine Steakhouse: The owners of Rio Mar, another outstanding Warehouse restaurant, collaborated on this steakhouse that serves up beef the South American way. You can opt for a 14 oz. New York strip (Bife De Chorizo) or pare down to the Milanesa, a thin cut fried beef cutlet. There are numerous choices in between, such as the Bife de Lomo filet. The restaurant serves certified Angus beef and organic beef from various organic ranches. Steaks are offered with various piquant sauces. Among the sides are the crispy French Fries La Boca and grilled asparagus. Chef Alfredo was voted Chef of the Year in 2006.
Other choices: Non-meat appetizers include Proveleta--grilled Argentine cheese, oregano, & olive oil, and bruschetta. The pasta selections change daily. For dessert, I like the cannoli or the dulce de leche ice cream, but the amaretto and coconut ice cream cake has received rave reviews from friends.
Wine: There is a great wine list for lovers of Italian, Spanish, and Argentine wine, including some very select Malbecs.
Where: 857 Fulton St. (504)525-8205. No reservations are taken. La Boca is open for lunch on weekdays.
