Emeril's New Orleans

By Sharon Keating, About.com

Emeril: Emeril Lagasse is not only a name, it is a household word. Emeril started out here in New Orleans at Commander's Palace, before going out on his own with his flagship restaurant. Located in the Warehouse District at 800 Tchoupitoulas Street, Emeril's New Orleans has remained a staple in the world of upscale dining.
The Menu: New Orleans Barbeque Shrimp, andouille, tasso, and boudin sausage--if you don't know what these are, Emeril's is the place to find out. Make sure you like it spicy. Go for the unusual, like Duck Schnitzel or Moroccan Spice Crusted Salmon. Appetizers include gumbo and salads (try the baby spinach salad with spiced pecans and smoked bacon dressing), as well as the sinfully good Oysters with Manchego Fondue. For dessert, my pick is Banana Cream Pie with caramel sauce or baked "hot chocolate."
When To Go: Emerils' is open Monday through Sunday for dinner, 6-10 pm and Thursday and Friday for lunch, 11:30 am through 2:00 pm. Reservations are recommended. Dress is business casual.
