Guide Review - The Living Room Steak and Lobster House

Bryan Buckles has returned to his hometown after managing several restaurants in Texas, and teamed up with his brother, Tommy to open his own place. After completing a beautiful renovation of a 19th century building on the corner of Magazine Street and Washington Avenue, Tommy brought in Executive Chef Peter Ferroe, formerly at the Court of Two Sisters, to create a menu which features steaks and lobster, but also offers duck, pork, chicken and fish dishes. One of the specialties of the house is the Kobe Japanese Beef Steak. The steaks are great, but try the roasted porkloin wrapped in apple smoked bacon, caramelized with a sweet Dijon hollandaise. The portions are generous, so come hungry. For starters my favorite is the charbroiled oyster appetizer. The oysters are fresh and served on the half shell with sauteed lump crabmeat and a light sauce. For dessert try the White Chocolate Bread Pudding. The Living Room Steak and Lobster House is located at 2800 Magazine Street and the phone number is 504 324 9554.
