Guide Review - Restaurant
If you're looking for a great po-boy and a Barq's Root Beer, try Domilise's Sandwich Shop and Bar at 5240 Annuciation Street, Uptown. Dot still presides over Domilise's like she has done for decades to make sure everything is right and everyone is happy. If you enjoy a fried seafood po-boy, the official favorite food of New Orleans, try the one and a half, with shrimp and oysters, or if it's a hot, sloppy roast beef po-boy you want, this is the place. Ask for extra gravy and you'll be happily dripping from your elbows. Domilise's also makes a mean meatball po-boy with gravy. If you prefer to eat with a fork, you can also get a plate of any of these items.
I like the atmosphere here almost as much as the food. To say that this is an unpretentious restaurant is a great understatement. But, that's what makes neighborhood joints like Domilise's so much fun.
