Clancy's Restaurant

By Sharon Keating, About.com

A New Orleans Classic Off the Tourist Path:

Next time you're in New Orleans, put Clancy's on your list of must try restaurants. Don't be put off by the unpretentious corner restaurant in Uptown New Orleans. Once an old Po-boy shop, Clancy's is now a New Orleans classic. It's service and food rivals that of the any of the fabled restaurants in the French Quarter. Yet, its ambiance is as relaxed and comfortable as any neighborhood restaurant in Uptown New Orleans. Clancy's is a favorite place of locals and is off the traditional tourist track; but, well worth the trip.

A Varied Menu:

Some of my favorites at Clancy's are the grilled shrimp with balcony grits and the soft shell crab. There are great veal dishes and a different take on sweetbreads daily. Clancy's also does a great duck and the oysters and brie is to die for. Whether seafood, veal or beef, it's all prepared with the freshest ingredients and expertly presented. Try a new wine. Clancy's has an excellent wine list and knowledgeable waiters.

The Particulars:

Clancy's is located at 6100 Annunciation Street. (504) 895 1111. Reservations are a must as Clancy's is a small restaurant.
