Cooter Brown's has been around since 1977 and is a very popular sports bar. It's located in the Riverbend section of New Orleans at 509 S. Carrollton Ave. There's an oyster bar and lots of good seafood in a casual atmosphere. Cooter Brown's has pool tables and 15 wide-screen televisions,including an all-sports satellite system.
Bruno's, has been around since 1934 and is a popular Uptown watering hole. It has five TV screens and lots of local sports memorabilia. Bruno's is at 7601 Maple Street.
Friar Tucks at 5130 Freret St. is a big hangout for the University crowd. Friar Tucks has pool tables, dart boards, two touchscreen countertop games, a golden tee LIVE and other arcade games. It also has 12 tv's and 2 big sreens, with DirecTv NFL Ticket. Best of all, there's free food during NFL games.
Finn McCool's Irish Pub is a great sports bar with a twist. It not only carries all the usual sports events, it also shows English and Scottish Premier League football. Finn McCool's is open again after being flooded out in Katrina. It's in the Mid City neighborhood at 3701 Banks Street.
Johnny White's Sports Bar in the French Quarter at 720 Bourbon Street has the distinction of never actually closing during Hurricane Katrina. It stayed open during and after the hurricane and became the meeting place for residents of the French Quarter during those hard days.
Kabby's Sports Edition, located in the Hilton Riverside Hotel where Poydras Street meets the Mississippi River has 24 42inch Plasma TV's and 8 30 inch LCD TV's. Kabbys also serves burgers, muffulettas and po-boys.
Ugly Dog Saloon in the Warehouse District at 401 Andrew Higgins Dr., in large, has a pool table and some great barbeque.
Gordon Biersch Brewery has outdoor patio seating on the pedestrian mall that is Fulton Street right across from Harrah's Casino. On the mall with other restaurants and Jazz Clubs. Remoulade is really a bar and restaurant, with an oyster bar. It is a creation of Archie Casbarian, of Arnaud's fame. Located at 309 Bourbon Street, Remoulade is right in the heart of things. the menu is eclectic. Along with po-boys, pizza and burgers, you can get Shrimp Arnaud, BBQ shrimp or Cajun eggrolls. It is open from 11:30 am untill midnight.
