New Orleans Saints v. Minnesota Vikings in 2010 NFL Season Opener

By , About.com Guide

It's Time for Football

Here in the WHO DAT Nation we are still celebrating the Saints Super Bowl win against the Colts. We'll probably be celebrating that forever. We really love our Saints, and we really love to celebrate anything, especially something as unbelievable as the Saints getting their first Super Bowl win. Well, now it's time for a whole new season and we're ready for a repeat run this year.

NFL Opens in New Orleans

This year the NFL will open the regular season right here in New Orleans on September 9, 2010 when the New Orleans Saints will meet the Minnesota Vikings in the Superdome. I remember the last time we met the Vikings and beat them on the way to the Super Bowl. It will all be on NBC and the game's only the beginning of the big plans the NFL, NBC and New Orleans has for viewers.

Pre-Game Fun Involves a Parade and a Concert

There's going to be a concert in Jackson Square concert featuring superstar Taylor Swift and the Dave Matthews Band. If you're in town, you better get there early. Huge crowds are expected. We here in New Orleans are hoping that some local musicians will also be on stage to perform. That hasn't been announced, but I can tell you there are so many talented musicians in this town there are usually several in any crowd and they love to jam. There's also a parade along the river front.

The Parade

The NFL has teamed up with Blaine Kern Studios to produce a Mardi Gras-style parade that start at 5 pm on Esplanade at the River, then go up Decatur past the St. Louis Cathedral, back to North Peters, across Canal and Poydras streets to Tchoupitoulas, where it will disband. The parade, although small by New Orleans Mardi Gras standards, should be a lot of fun with football player, local chefs and musicians and some NBC series stars.

The Saints 2010 Schedule

It's always best to be in the Superdome, or in front of a TV for an away game with members of the WHO DAT nation, they know how to party. Here's the 2010 New Orleans Saints schedule so you can make your plans, to be in that number.
