What: New Orleans has winter. Last year it was on a Tuesday. But, we always have snow around Christmas time. The Saturday before Christmas a snow maker is brought in for the kids from 1 to 92 to play. Making snow angels, sledding and skiing are some of the activities the children of New Orleans, most of whom have never actually seen snow, enjoy.
Where and When: The event takes place in City Park Dreyfous Meadow near the New Orleans Museum of Art and the Sculpture Garden. In 2007 the Snow Land will be on Saturday, December 22. It starts at 8:30 in the morning and lasts until the snow melts. If we get some cool weather, that could be several hours. And the best part is that it's FREE.
What else: Santa always comes to Snow Land and he loves to get in photos with the kids. City Park also has premier Christmas event in New Orleans, Celebration in the Oaks. Don't miss that!.
The Setting: City Park in New Orleans is a wonderful place to visit anytime of the year. City Park has the largest stand of live oak trees in the country, natural lagoons that are actually the remains of Bayou Metairie, the New Orleans Museum of Art, the Botanical Gardens, the Sculpture Garden, Storybook Land and much more.
