Odyssey Marine Entertainment, Inc. will open an interactive shipwreck and treasure attraction at the Jax Brewery in the French Quarter on August 25. Odyssey Entertainment is a subsidiary of Odyssey Marine Exploration, a company that specializes in deep-sea exploration.

Interactive Fun

This facility enables everyone to explore the thrills of deep-sea underwater exploration. Interactive games and videos are for kids and grown-ups alike. A wall video will make you feel as though you are deep under the sea, and there are four interactive stations featuring the history of shipwrecks from as early as 3500 B.C. With three participants, one builds a ship, the second sinks it, and the third recovers the wreckage. Fly Odyssey's Remote Operated Vehicle over a shipwreck site and pick up coins from the depths of the sea.

More Fun

You can also view a large collection of coins and artifacts collected from deep-sea shipwrecks, including the New Orleans-bound SS Republic shipwreck. A weather globe shows shipping lanes, shipwreck sites, and more, and a high-definition film tells the story of Odyssey and includes a video of operations from the Explorer.

This is an ultra-cool way to spend a hot afternoon in New Orleans.
