What: Tipitina's Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of New Orleans music. New Orleans without music is like New Orleans without good food, simply not a possibility. So, as we rebuild, we cry, we laugh, we hug each other, and we listen to good music. Tipitina's Foundation is keeping that tradition alive by helping local musicians recover.
Where: The foundation is using the legendary music club, Tipitina's Uptown, located at the corner of Napoleon and Tchoupitoulas, as the center of its relief efforts.
Programs: The foundation hosts a newly-opened Music Co-op Office that allows musicians to conduct their business activities during the daytime, free legal and accounting seminars, free music lessons for music students, regular Master Seminars, and help with housing information.
Donations: The foundation also finds replacement instruments for both professionals and music students. It also is coordinating relief to artists who are displaced and/or in need of help. Artists and donors may post listings so that the Foundation can match specific donations to artists in need, or Artists and donors may also browse the lists themselves to try to make their own matches.
