What:
The New Orleans Jazz Historic Park is a National Historic Park operated by the U.S. Department of the Interior and has a wealth of information about the history and culture of New Orleans Jazz. The Park offers diverse opportunities to learn about the history and culture of New Orleans jazz. The Park conducts ranger-led demonstrations, walks and talks, video documentaries and live music.
Oral Histories and Walking Tours:
The park has collected over 130 oral histories from New Orleans musicians. The park also offers self-guided walking tours in six neighborhoods pertinent to the development of New Orleans Jazz. These maps highlight venues, businesses and homes of New Orleans music history.
Live Music:
Generally the Park has live Jazz on Saturdays, and piano performances on Wednesdays. These performances are during the day and are free and open to the public. Often the Saturday performances present the Storyville Stompers and kids are encouraged to bring there own instruments to play along. To get the schedule go to the
