The Contemporary Arts Center in New Orleans

By , About.com Guide

A Center of Contemporary Art:

The Contemporary Arts Center is a multi-disciplinary arts center. It's the place in New Orleans to see artists’ bold experiments in painting, theater, photography, performance art, dance, music, video, education, and sculpture. The CAC is a unique celebration of our time. It's a not-to-be-missed experience when visiting New Orleans.

Where:

The CAC is in the New Orleans Warehouse Arts District at 900 Camp Street, one block off of Lee Circle (and the Saint Charles streetcar line), and just steps from the National D-Day Museum and the Ogden Museum of Southern Art.

Hours:

The gallery is open Thursday - Sunday, 11am to 4pm, during art exhibition periods. But there's a lot more happening at the CAC so hours vary for concerts, performances, lectures and special events.

Special Events:

The CAC is open and hosts special events during Warehouse/Arts District gallery openings. Art for Art's Sake and White Linen Night are the two biggest.
