The International Conference on World War II

By , About.com Guide

The event

The National D-Day Museum in New Orleans will host the International Conference on World War II on October 5-9, 2005. It promises to be one of the largest and most significant conferences to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II.

A new exhibit

The event will form the backdrop for a new exhibit at the D-Day Museum. The exhibit, entitled "Beyond the Call of Duty," will include personal accounts, interactive exhibits, photographs and artifacts related to individuals who received America’s highest military honor at tremendous personal risk.

Walter Cronkite

There will be programs throughout the conference with discussions about the war from Authors, Historians, Journalists, and Film makers, including an interview with Walter Cronkite.

Entertainment

The program also includes great entertainment. On Wednesday, October 5, enjoy the Homefront Cantina Swing Dance from 7-9 p.m., and on Saturday the 8th attend a USO Show featuring Deacon John and his Duke Ellington Orchestra from 8 to Midnight.
