Lundi Gras is the day before Mardi Gras and has it's own special fun. There's a free concert at the Spanish Plaza (on the Mississippi River where Canal Street starts).
This year the Riverwalk Marketplace will host the annual Lundi Gras at Spanish Plaza with Rex, King of Carnival, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 20, 2010. The free celebration will again include fireworks on the Mississippi River and musical entertainment.
Here's the entertainment schedule
- 3:00 p.m - 4:15 John Papa Gros & the Krewe du Karnival
- 4:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Shamarr Allen & The Underdawgs
- 6:00 - 6:30 Arrival of Rex, King of Carnival & Fireworks
- 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. The Topcats
Two great parades
There are two great parades that roll on Lundi Gras. The Krewe of Proteus takes to the streets at at 5:15pm, followed by The Orpheus Parade. It's a great prelude to Mardi Gras!
