Palm Court:
The Palm Court Jazz Cafe, on Decatur Street, is a terrific place to listen to live traditional jazz while you enjoy some of our inimitable New Orleans Creole food. The exposed brick walls, bentwood chairs, ceiling fans, and old mirrored mahogany bar make you feel that you've just stepped into a 19th century New Orleans restaurant. The band stage is large enough to feature several musicians with their instruments, and an old Steinway, usually being played by a jazz piano master.
The Music:
There are different performers each night. The Crescent City Joymakers, the venerable Lionel Ferbos, the Palm Court Jazz Band with Topsy Chapman and Lars Edegran, Thais Clark, Sam Butera and the Wildest, and Juanita Brooks are just a few of the entertainers and musicians who have performed there. All of the performers are top notch, and you can enjoy them from the bar or at your table.
The Menu:
Flash fried crispy crawfish tails, Creole gumbo and shrimp potato cakes are great appetizers. Red beans and rice (of course) with Garlic Chicken, Shrimp Ambrosia, Oysters Bordelaise, Crawfish Pie--these are among the entrees you can enjoy while listening to the music. Finish with chocolate mousse, pecan pie, or bread pudding.
