Hurricane Gustav Damage Reports - Damage Reports From Hurricane Gustav

No Floods:

The levees held and there is no catastrophic flooding. There are reports of some minor street flooding in some areas of New Orleans.

Power Outages:

There are major power outages and downed trees, making traveling in the city of New Orleans and surrounding areas.

No Looting:

There have been only a few arrests in New Orleans for looting, and most of them involved the theft of gasoline. All is peaceful and calm in New Orleans. Estimates are that only about 10,000 people stayed in the city.

There are a few reports of property damage, but nothing major. Hotels, the French Quarter, even the Ninth Ward remain ok.

Areas Around New Orleans

This time the areas west of New Orleans, including the River Parishes, and Baton Rouge took more of the brunt of the storm. There are reports of severe damage to many buildings on the campus of LSU. There is extensive damage in Lafourche.
