On June 28-29, the summer for gays kicks off in New Orleans with PrideFest, a weekend belonging to Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender lifestyles. The purpose is to promote awareness, dignity and understanding. The party will be held in Washington Square Park, at Elysian Fields and Royal Street, and features live music, food, and entertainment. Some of those beautiful drag costumes you see at Mardi Gras will be worn by their creators. The event runs from 10am to 7pm.
There will be a parade at 4:30 on Saturday. 100 booths will feature arts and crafts. Visit the website for more information.
