What and when:
Tennessee considered New Orleans his "spiritual home," and he loved to write here. The festival celebrates the life and cultural legacy of Tennessee Williams with two days of master classes;, a roster of panel discussions and celebrity interviews; theater and music events. In 2009 the festival will be on March 25 to March 29.
Events:
Food and wine tastings; a scholars conference; literary and other French Quarter walking tours; a book fair; and - in playful homage to the bellowing mates in Williams' masterpiece, A Streetcar Named Desire - a Stanley and Stella Shouting Contest. Also, there's the Literary Late Night: Poetry Slam and Improv Comedy Show and BROADWAY IN THE BIG EASY, a special event at the
Palm Court.Other Events:
Special guests include acclaimed television writers and producers, National Book Award-winning poets, Pulitzer Prize-winning authors editors, journalists, playwrights, and novellists. There's also actors, comedy troups and many more.

Some venues for these activities are Le Petit Theatre du Vieux Carre;, the Historic New Orleans Collection, the Cabildo, Southern Repertory Theatre, the Monteleone Hotel, the Bourbon Orleans Hotel, Muriel's Jackson Square and others, all located in the French Quarter. This year the Dragon's Den at 435 Esplanade Avenue (corner of Esplanade and Frenchmen is the new venue for the Literary Late Night events.
