New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival

What:

Jazz Fest is a seven-day celebration of the heritage of New Orleans at the Fairgrounds Race Track. Her music, food, culture, crafts and lifestyle.

Music:

You'll hear everything from Jazz to Zedeco to Country to Blues to Pop to Gospel to New Orleans Funk is playing on multiple stages simultaneously.

Food:

There are over 100 booths with Louisiana and International foods. Gumbos, Jambalaya, Po-boys, Seafood and more. Here are some of my favorites.

Crafts:

The Jazzfest is all about heritage and culture. That not only includes music and food, it also includes crafts. Three major craft fairs are held at the Jazz Fest.

Where and When:

The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival is held at the Fairgrounds Race Course the last weekend on April and the first weekend of May every year.

How to Get There:

Greyline Tours runs a Jazz Fest Express from the Sheraton Hotel on Canal Street, the Gray Line Lighthouse at the Steamboat Natchez Wharf (Toulouse St. at the River – next to Jax Brewery), and Marconi Meadows (City Park) daily from 10:30 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. Round trip tickets are $15 ($12 City Park).

Tickets and More Information:

You can get tickets from the Greyline Jazz Fest Express pickup points, or at the Jazz Fest. But, they are cheaper if you get advance tickets. Tickets are $50.00, in advance $40.00 for adults and $5.00 for children. There are weekend package passes available.

The 2009 daily lineupis out, so plan your trip now. The lineup includes Wynton Marsalis, Dave Matthews Band, James Taylor, Joe Cocker, Earth Wind & Fire on the first weekend and Bon Jovi, Sugarland, Ben Harper & Relentless7, Tony Bennett, Kings of Leon, The Neville Brothers, and Bonnie Raitt on the last weekend.
