Louisiana Blues Festival at Lafayette Square: The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation is producing the New Orleans Blues Festival, which makes its debut on Saturday, Nov. 18. It is starting out rather like Jazz Fest which opened it a smaller venue in Congo Square. The Blues Fest will be at Lafayette Square Park, in the CBD. Admission is free.
Behind The Music: The Festival will be held in conjunction with Walk The Beat, the five-kilometer run/walk benefiting the New Orleans Police and Justice Foundation. Registration begins at 8 a.m. The Festival will begin when the participants return to the Square. In the tradition of Jazz Fest, there will be food, arts and crafts in addition to the incomparable music.
The Musical Lineup: Set for the main stage are: The NOPD Blues Band - 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Rockie Charles - 12 p.m. to 12:40 p.m. Mem Shannon & the Membership - 1 p.m. to 1:40 p.m. Coco Robicheaux - 2 p.m. to 2:40 p.m. Little Freddie King - 3 p.m. to 3:40 p.m. Marva Wright and the BMWs - 4 p.m. to 4:40 p.m. Snooks Eaglin - 5 p.m. to 5:40 p.m. Walter "Wolfman Washington and the Roadmasters - 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Another stage will feature local artists, who will play between the main stage sets.
