Fun for the whole family on New Year's Eve

By Sharon Keating, About.com

Whether you're here on your honeymoon, your 50th wedding anniversary or a vacation with the whole family, there are a lot of ways to bring in the new year in New Orleans.

Fun with the Kids

If you have your family along try the Kids' New Year's Eve party at the Louisiana Children's Museum on Julia Street. It's from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on December 31st. There are crafts for the kids and music from the Imagination Movers. A big countdown to 2005 will happen at noon with a confetti drop, balloon release and noise makers.

If you want to be outside to celebrate with the kids, try the Noon Year's Eve party at the Audubon Zoo. Join Radio Disney's Triple Image and local favorite Amanda Shaw from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on December 31st. Toast 2005 with apple cider at noon at the Zoo.

The Hermann-Grima House at 820 St. Louis Street in the French Quarter has a special event planned for the whole family on December 28th from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The kids (ages 9-13) can bake 19th century Christmas goodies in the authentic 1830's kitchen. While the goodies bake the kids get a tour of the beautifully restored historic home, decorated for the holidays.

Between now and then be sure to see Santa v. the Snowman in 3D at the IMAX Theatre, Canal Street at the River.
