Every October New Orleans hosts an Independent Film Festival. In 2009 the dates are October 8-15.

New Orleans Film Industry:

New Orleans has had a thriving film industry for several years now, and while Katrina slowed it down, she couldn't destroy it. A big part of this burgeoning business is fun for those of us outside of showbiz--we get to preview independently made movies from all over the world. Venues will be The Contemporary Arts Center in the Warehouse District, and the Prytania Theater Uptown. you can see some of the best films coming from smaller and lesser known studios.

Start With a Gala:

Every year the film festival starts with a Gala. There's always great food and music. In 2009 it will be held at The Grand Oaks Mansion at Blaine Kern Studios, 1380 Port of New Orleans Place

The Highlights On The Marquee at Canal Place Cinema and the Prytania will be announced soon.
