From October 10-16, 2008, New Orleans is hosting the 19th annual Independent Film Festival
New Orleans Film Industry:
New Orleans has had a thriving film industry for several years now, and while Katrina slowed it down, she couldn't destroy it. A big part of this burgeoning business is fun for those of us outside of showbiz--we get to preview independently made movies from all over the world. Downtown at Canal Place Cinema, at the Contemporary Arts Center in the Warehouse District, and the Prytania Theater Uptown, you can see some of the best films coming from smaller and lesser known studios.
Start With a Gala:
On Thursday, October 2nd 2008, from 7:00PM - 10:00PM. Plan a glamorous evening at the home of Pam and Duke Dongieux. This year the John Besh Restaurant Group, including Restaurant August, Lüke, The Besh Steak House at Harrah's and La Provence will cater the party. Chef Besh's award-winning culinary delights will be paired with French wines donated by Republic National Beverage Company. Entertainment will be provided by young and talented jazz singer Sasha Masakowski and her jazz trio. And there will be free valet parking.
The Highlights On The Marquee at Canal Place Cinema and the Prytania will be announced soon.
