New Orleans has long been a mixture of beautiful people, of all races and colors. Every year in Mid-October the city celebrates its Latino population in the festival "Carnaval Latino."
Carnaval Latino:
The Latino people have always been a valuable ingredient in the "gumbo" that is New Orleans. Now, they have become even more visible thanks to the many citizens of Latin American countries who have come to New Orleans to help in the rebuilding process. The local Hispanic performing artists are helping the city to reach out to the community with their best energy, food and music, in this two day event open to all who love and appreciate the culture. It's usually held in early October on the River in Mardi Gras World.
Music
There are concerts on both days of the festival featuring international renowned music stars will enchant patrons of all ages. Music and dance will fill each day, spanning world genres such as Salsa, Merengue, Latin Jazz, Bachata, Latin Hip-Hop Reggeaton, and Latin Rock. Local New Orleans Bands with a Latin tinge.
Food
Las Cantinas is a section of the festival devoted to food, with all of your favorite Latin dishes. It features food and drinks from throughout the Americas and the motherlands.
A Marketplace
El Mercado, a big part of the festival, is a special Arts and Crafts and business opportunity trade center, with attractions such as cigar rolling sites, espresso coffee, original jewelry, piñatas and much more.
