Fabergé at the New Orleans Museum of Art

By Sharon Keating, About.com

The New Orleans Museum of Art has had a collection of Fabergé eggs and other pieces for years, but this week, a new gallery will highlight more of these jeweled masterpieces.

Peter Carl Fabergé and Other Russian Masters

The Fabergé exhibit OBJECTS OF DESIRE: Fabergé from the Hodges Family Collection, is now on the first floor of the Museum. The new gallery, named "Peter Carl Fabergé and Other Russian Masters," will feature more Easter Eggs as well as cigarette cases, a pink clock set, a Bismark box decorated with 90 carats of diamonds, photograph frames, and a rare silver icon.

The miniature Easter Eggs are displayed on three objects: a gold tree, a necklace, and a bracelet. Among the other Imperial jeweled figures, there is a dancing bear in rock crystal, and a circular nephrite and gold table box.
