The New Orleans Art Market - The Monthly Marketplace for Art in New Orleans

By Sharon Keating, About.com

There's a great monthly art market in New Orleans where local artists and craftsman display their works for sale. The New Orleans Art Market (formerly the Mid-City Art Market) is open on the last Saturday of every month. The market has relocated to Palmer Park on the corner of Claiborne Avenue and Carrollton Ave. The market is at the end of the St. Charles Avenue streetcar terminus.

Art at the Market:

From 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the market showcases talented artists as well as musicians, and is the best place to buy gifts for the whole family at reasonable prices. It offers stunning works of art for your pleasure.

Bring Home a Real Souvenir of New Orleans:

At the market you'll find local and regional artists selling painting, sculpture, pottery, jewelry, photography, glass, furniture, metal, textiles, and accessories. There are local musicians entertaining the shoppers, and neighborhood restaurants selling food.

Bring the Kids:

Great fun for the kids awaits in the Children's Emerging Artists Activity Tent. So, come out and encourage your children's creativity while you shop. Come and enjoy another great family activity!
