It was just announced that two new big name acts will be added to the 2012 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival lineup. If you didn't have a reason to come to Jazz Fest this year, how about Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band and Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder. The Boss is a favorite at Jazz Fest and there's not one of us who was there in 2006 for his performance in the first Jazz Fest after Hurricane Katrina who will ever forget it. It was quite possibly the most emotional musical event I've seen in my life. This year Springsteen will perform on April 29, the first Sunday of Jazz Fest on the Acura Stage. Dr. John and guitarist John Mayer will also be performing on the Acura Stage before the Boss, so you might as well just camp out there for that afternoon.
The well known vocalist Eddie Vedder will be appearing May 3rd at the Fest. This will be one stop on his upcoming solo ukulele tour. Vedder fronted Pearl Jam at the 2010 Jazz Fest. He has a blast and decided to stick around for an extra day or so. His latest tour will kick off in Las Vegas and will include 13 stops. He will be accompanied by the Irish singer/guitarist/actor Glen Hansard.
