Every year in New Orleans January 6th, Twelfth Night, marks the end of the Christmas Season and the beginning of the Carnival Season. The Phunny Phorty Fellows, a band of Twelfth Night revelers hold their annual ride every January 6th on the St. Charles Avenue Street Car, usually starting about 6pm. In the French Quarter Joan of Arc's birthday is celebrated in another Twelfth Night celebration with a parade starting at the Bienville Statue on Decatur Street. And of course, there will be many King Cakes eaten today to celebrate the Carnival Season that contiinues to heat up until the big day, February 21st - Mardi Gras!
