Canal Street is one of the storied streets of New Orleans. It was the great divide between the old city and the new American sector. Today it's a beautiful main street that separates the French Quarter from the American Sector. There are street cars running down the neutral ground and at Christmas it's a beautiful sight during Canal Street: Home for the Holidays .

This year the celebration begins with the Canal Street Lighting Ceremony on Tuesday, November 23, 2010, 5:30 p.m. in front of the Astor Crowne Plaza, 719 Canal Street.

But that's only the beginning of the Christmas celebration on Canal Street. There will also be a outdoor movie on the Mississippi River on Friday, December 3, 2010, 6:30 p.m. at the Riverwalk's Spanish Plaza.

Don't miss "Krewe of Jingle" Holiday Parade & "Jingle Mingle" Block Party on Saturday, December 4, 2010. The Parade begins at 1:00 p.m. The Parade will roll on Canal Street from Elks Place to the River block Party will be in the 100 block of Baronne Street that starts at 2 p.m.

On Saturday, December 11, 2010 join the Reindeer Run & Romp a ½ mile run up and back on Canal Street, beginning and ending at the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas. Registration 8:00 a.m. Race Start 9:00 a.m.
