The Mardi Gras parades are rolling!

Wednesday February 15, 2006
Krewe du Vieux, the most satirical of Mardi Gras parades was great this year. The theme was our recent horror with Katrina and our adventures with FEMA, a four letter word in New Orleans right now. We have to laugh to keep from crying. So, most of the marchers wore some form of the blue tarps FEMA gave us to cover the holes in our roofs. One float was "Home is Where the Tarp Is," another was " Give me That Mold Time Religion," and my personal favorite, "Fridge Over Troubled Water." If you ever came home to your house after two months without electricity in 95 degree heat and opened you fridge, you would really appreciate that one!

The Army Corps of Engineers, who built the levees that failed, would have loved "Corpse of Engineers Presents “A Day at the Breach,” and "The Comatose Corps of Engineers does the BIG SPILL." Of course, there was the ultimate political statement, "Buy Us Back, Chirac!" You gotta love Mardi Gras!
