We have a traffic jam!!!

Wednesday October 5, 2005
I never thought I would say this, but I was happy to hear the traffic lady on the morning news report a traffic jam on I-10. Those of us in the French Quarter, Uptown, the American Sector (the Central Business District and the Warehouse/arts districts,) and Algiers were lucky enough to have no flooding and the least damage. So, we got to come back home first. But, today is the first day the rest of the city. I welcome them all home. But, I know that for many the return home will be very devastating when they see the destruction first hand. I know from experience that seeing the images on TV simply can't prepare one for the sight first hand.

The one area that can still not return is the lower Ninth Ward. If you will indulge me, I'd like to tell you a little about that area.
