V-Day and D-Day

Sunday November 7, 2004
This Thursday is Veterans Day and what better place to celebrate it than the National D-Day Museum in New Orleans? Get to the museum early enough to catch the Veterans Day Parade, which starts immediately after a 10 a.m. ceremony at the Veterans Memorial on the Plaza level of the Louisiana Superdome. There will be a second ceremony at the D-Day Museum at noon. In honor of Veterans Day the D-Day Museum will waive the admission fee for all veterans with ID. Throughout the day there will be demonstrations of weapons, equipment and uniforms from World War II. In the museum pavillion and parking lot the museum's Living History Corps will have static displays of military equipment. There will be music from the Delgado Community Orchestra from 10:30 to 11:30, and the Marine Corps Brass Ensemble will play from 11:30 to noon. From 1 to 3 in the afternoon the New Orleans Navy Band will take over.
